Firefox Fast & Private Browser

What Firefox does

Firefox Fast & Private Browser is a mobile web browser for opening websites, searching the internet and managing everyday browsing on an Android phone. It suits people who want more control over tracking, page display and browser settings, including families choosing a browser for a shared device. Mozilla develops the app.

Privacy and browsing controls

Firefox includes tracking protection intended to limit cross-site cookies, social media trackers and crypto-miners. It also supports private tabs, which can be locked behind a fingerprint or PIN. These options may be useful when more than one person uses the same phone or when browsing activity should stay separate from normal tabs.

• Supports selected mobile add-ons, including privacy and ad-blocking tools.
• Lets users move the search bar to the bottom of the screen for easier one-handed use.
• Offers dark mode, picture-in-picture video and different ways to view open tabs.

Using it across devices

A Mozilla account can connect Firefox on a phone with Firefox on other devices. Depending on the account setup, users can access items such as bookmarks, saved passwords and open tabs across those devices. Creating an account is not necessary for basic web browsing, but it is part of using the synchronisation features.

How widely it is used

Firefox has a 4.58 out of 5 rating from more than 6.2 million reviews, with 100,000,000+ installs. Those figures show broad use and a large amount of public feedback, although they cannot indicate whether every feature will suit a particular person. The app is listed in the Communication category and is identified by package org.mozilla.firefox.
